Jax Hughes - Super Stock 3rd in Points and Sportsman of the Year at Colorado National Speedway

We were very proud of our efforts this year at Colorado National Speedway as Jax Hughes finished out the season 3rd in points, and very honored to be named Sportsman of the Year for the second time in three years. There were 47 drivers/teams that ran in the Super Stock Division this year, about 25 on a regular basis. There were 13 races on the schedule for 2017, but Mother Nature took 3 of those away, including the first and the last races of the season.

The season started off with some new sheet metal and a new paint scheme that proved to be a fan favorite. We were a couple tenths faster than last year, but so was just about everybody else. Jax saw three top 5 finishes, and only two races that were outside of the top 10. One of those was due to a broken transmission, the other was a wreck fest in which the 51 got hit hard in the driver door – twice, the second hit also resulted in a broken axle housing. Those two events brought Jax’s average finish position to 7th, but the consistency of hard charging on the track and dedication to getting the car ready for every race paid off in the season points. Here’s another point of pride – we have not missed a single race in the three years that Jax has been running Super Stock at Colorado National Speedway.

We want to congratulate Chris Cox on a great season, and a solid championship. Chris, along with Adam Hilton, really shook up the division with the only Ford in the field, and a what beauty it was with the Brewster Baker Six Pack paint scheme. Just 23 points behind was Chris’s dad, Michael Cox in 2nd. Nicholas Brinlee had third wrapped up, but did not run the entire season, leaving the opportunity for Jax to take over that spot, and Brinlee wound up 4th. James Larsen rounded out the top 5.
